Good morning !
Today China Packaging Federation holds a press conference. On behalf of the CPF, I express my heartfelt thanks and cordial welcomes to all guests attending the conference in your busy time. I will announce a piece of important news that World Packaging Conference 2010 will be held at Beijing from June 1st to June 4th, 2010, concurrently, China International Packaging Forum and Beijing International Packaging Fair 2010 will be held. At that time, some representatives from competitive enterprises, international packaging organization and other relevant industry organization and experts, scholars and political officials (amounting to 1000) will participate in the World Packaging Conference, and such activities as forum & fair.
At first, I plan to introduce two important things to you. My colleagues will introduce the date, content, invitation and participation of World Packaging Conference 2010, China International Packaging Forum and Beijing International Packaging Fair 2010 to you later.
1. The aim and meaning of holding world packaging conference, international packaging forum and international packaging fair in current situations.With social development and people’s pursuit of material cultural life, packaging plays an increasingly clear role in social, economic and cultural circles. Packaging level can directly show industry, technology, culture and environmental protection level of a country. In the 21st century, world packaging industry has been developing fast. It is predicted that packaging consumptions will total up to 560 billion in 2009, with an annual increase of 3.79 percent. Considering propelling the world packaging industry, especially, influenced by the world financial crisis, it is extremely crucial to strengthen unity and cooperation among packaging industry from different countries and to discuss sustainable development. The world packaging conference, China international packaging forum and Beijing international packaging fair hosted by China Packaging Federation will provide world packaging industry with a platform of communication and mutual consultations. To sum up, there are four aspects. First, encourage packaging industry to overcome financial crisis. Second, consult sustainable development of packaging cause. Third, exchange the results of technology development. Fourth, deepen unity and friendship among packaging industry. Therefore, the theme of World Packaging Conference is cooperation, innovation, development and win-win.
2. The aim and meaning of holding world packaging conference, international packaging forum and international packaging fair held in China.After adopting the policy of reform and opening up, national economy has achieved fast development and people’s life standards has improved a lot. China packaging industry has a trend toward rapid development. In 2008, the total values of national packaging industry amounted to RMB 860 billion (equal to us dollar 120 billion). Besides we have formed a set of complete packaging industry system including paper, plastic, mental, glass packaging containers, packaging machinery, packaging raw material production and packaging printing. Our country has become the second largest packaging nation. Especially, under the guidance of scientific outlook of development, the enterprises take reform and innovation as their motives and continuously strengthen industry structure adjustment and technology innovation, so their production structure and research and development capacities improved a lot. Also many technologies and products have attained or exceeded international advanced levels and international competition becomes much stronger.
However, our packaging industry started later and had a weak foundation. After 30 years’ development, it doesn’t prevent economic development and foreign trade any longer. But on the whole, compared to the industry-developed countries, we still have some weakness, especially, we have a long way to go in high-tech packaging materials and packaging equipment.
China is a large country with 1.3 billion people. At present, per capita level of packaging consumption is rather low. Let’s take metal packaging as an example, the per capita consumption of world mental containers us dollar 13.1, but our nation is less than us dollar 5. So China packaging has a huge potential market.
So we must learn all advanced science technology, managerial methods and experiences from advanced countries through cooperation to enhance our entire level of packaging industry and strengthen comprehensive competition. In the meanwhile, overseas packaging and packaging-related industry also can seek more sales markets and development chances through cooperation. The world packaging conference, China international packaging forum and Beijing international packaging fair hosted by China Packaging Federation provide a platform of learning overseas packaging industry and their developing China markets.
Therefore, the three proposals from CPF not only has a crucial impact on China packaging industry, but also has a far-reaching influence over world packaging industry and strengthening unity and cooperation among the same industry. They have been advocated by world packaging industry and relevant industry and strongly supported by China government and social circles. We firmly believe that the World Packaging Conference and such activities as forum & fair will be held successfully.
